Who is this training for?: Parents, carers or families supporting children and young people with complex feeding difficulties or ARFID presentations. The child does not need a formal diagnosis of ARFID for parents to attend and benefit from these sessions. • 07/03/25 12.30-2.30pm Session 1 – Introduction to complex feeding and ARFID and the impact of these difficulties. This session includes information on understanding complex feeding difficulties including ARFID presentations and the impact on the individual and the families together with information on the research about the outcomes for people with these presentations. • 14/03/25 12.30-2.30pm Session 2 - Strategies to help part one and emotional regulation. This session includes information on strategies to support expansion of food intake including information about routines, food preparation and emotional regulation. • 21/03/25 12.30-2.30pm Session 3 – Strategies to help part two. This session includes information on strategies for expansion of food intake including food play and sensory desensitisation and food trials. • 28/03/25 12.30-2.30pm Session 4 - Dietary intake and oral motor skills. Delivered by one of our dietitians and speech and language therapists this session includes information on physical health risks, how to meet nutritional needs and the impact of constipation, alongside understating the impact of chewing or swallowing difficulties how they might develop and strategies to support this including thinking about oral care and positioning when eating. • 04/04/25 12.30-2.30pm Session 5 – Strategies to help part three and maintaining progress. This session includes information on strategies for expansion of food intake including food chaining and supporting anxiety when eating, together with final thoughts on maintaining progress.
